Quick Synopsis:
Jin Da Hua has always hoped to be beautiful in order to win the heart of her childhood sweetheart, Lin Guan Jun. In order to save her family business and become beautiful, she takes Ouyang Tai's offer to get plastic surgery and take the place of his fiancee, Du Yan Liang.
My Thoughts:
Story Line:
I really liked this story line because it constantly kept me guessing. Majority of all love triangles that are seen in dramas have obvious winners. No matter what we can always tell who will get the girl based on the first five minutes of the show. This one, however, made me think that the person I think may get the girl will not get her after all. I did my very best to not spoil the show for myself and see who actually is victorious between Lin Guan Jun and Ouyang Tai. Most story lines had the girl get the guy she always loved since childhood. For Jin Da Hua, her love is Lin Guan Jun. Another thing that does happen in dramas, if the female lead spends a lot of time with the handsome rich prince, they will end up falling for each other. The handsome rich prince here is Ouyang Tai. So, I thought that the ending for this drama could go either way. My money was still on Lin Guan Jun though. But, I just hope that Ouyang Tai can get the girl this time because all the dramas I have seen Wu Kang Ren in, he never does. But its such a hard decision since I also like Lin Guan Jun and I want him to get the girl, too. Ugh this is such a dilemma for me.
When it comes to the whole substitute scenario, I thought it was well laid out. The story progressed well and her identity was slowly being discovered. This kept me at the edge of my seat because Jin Da Hua kept making so many mistakes that would let people know she is not the real Du Yan Liang. Although, she was very dedicated and said she was careful, she was actually very careless and gave it away quickly. I was so mad at her for making such stupid mistakes.
Cast:
Great cast. I have never payed much attention to Nikki Hsieh as an actress because when I saw her in It Started with A Kiss. She did not have such an important role. She did impress me here with having to play two different characters, although, one of them did not appear much. I loved James Wen in here. I think characters like this make hi stand out more. I have seen him play sort of serious roles and Lin Guan Jun is not much of a serious guy. He is loyal and goofy and I love it. Wen Kang Ren is always a favorite to see. I think playing a rich, obnoxious person suits him better. He is still the nice guy but looks evil while doing it. I find it quite attractive. Now, the other person that is always a favorite of mine to see is Guo Shu-Yao. She tends to play the best friend of the lead female characters. They tend to be very feisty and it makes the show much more entertaining to watch.
Music:
Good music. It sounds very sweet and girlish to me which is not my favorite. I love alternative music but once in awhile these sort of pop-ish party songs just get stuck in my head.
Overall I would rate this drama with a 4/5.
