Quick Synopsis:
Based on the nonfiction novel by the same name.
Kyoko and her husband Naoki have been trying to have children but have been unsuccessful. In order to complete their family they decide to adopt. They start off as foster parents to Yosuke. Yosuke is in the system because his mother is too ill to take care of him. Since he wanted a sister, Kyoko and Naoki also foster Sachi. Sachi's mother died when she was young and her father was not fit to take care of her. This is their story about the love of family between foster parents and their foster children.

My Thoughts:
Story Line:
This drama goes to show that a family is not just made up blood ties. It is made up of love and care for one another. I felt so sad for Yosuke when he got sent back into the system. Lucky for him, the Katagiri family did not turn him away after he kept showing up to their house. They are such great people. They still love him and Yosuke still loves them as parents even though they are no longer his fosters. I cried many times -especially near the end. It also makes me want to read the book -that is how beautiful the story was- the only problem is that I do not know how to read kanji.

Cast:
Honestly the only reason I watched this drama was because of Yamashita Tomohisa. At first, I did not think he would do that good since I figured he was more of an idol and should probably stick to teen type dramas rather than serious roles such as this. But, he was pretty good and could tap into those emotions well. The entire cast here is great actually. They look like a real family and seem to have a great connection with each other. The child actors were also pretty good at acting. Their facial expressions and body language were great when expressing how much these kids wanted and needed to have a family that loves and cares for them. Matsushita Yuki must be a mom cause she tapped into that emotional state very well. You can see her yearning for children and how much it hurt her to send Yosuke back. Same goes for Toru Nakamura. He was a wonderful dad. He even looked so broken hearted when Sachi would keep her distance from him.

Music:
The music was always in the background for me. I did not pay much attention to it because I was so involved in the story. However, it did add to the mood of what was going on to the characters.

Overall I would rate this drama with a 5/5.
